2018 Chapter Commander Comments
What a truly remarkable chapter we've become and 2015 is a testament to that. From a statistics perspective we rode over 272,000 chapter miles, raised $35,000 for the Virginia Veteran and Family Support Program, supported more events than ever before, second 'one cent challenge' ride, really got the Area Rep program going strong.
However, most important is the true bond that we've created that holds us together. I've been in some great units in the past, but the camaraderie in 27-2 is simply outstanding. It's a privilege to have you as brothers and sisters.
Of course, all our success would not possible without everyone's participation and support. I especially want to thank all those who stepped up to be chapter officers or area reps - I know all the countless hours you put in behind the scenes.
What a truly amazing chapter we have. The character, sacrifice and willingness to live up to our motto of ‘vets helping vets’ was demonstrated this year. We continued with hosting 4 major riding events this year:
In addition, we supported rides with all our sister chapters in VA, and other events in AL, CA, FL, MD, NC, PA, RI, SC and TN. We also supported numerous riding and non-riding events aimed at helping veterans and raising awareness of veteran issues. Since our inception in 2011, we have raised over $144,000 to help fight PTSD/TBI. During that process we have ridden over 1 million miles in support of charity. This year alone we rode approximately 24,000 miles.
Sadly, we lost three of our members this year, though none through motorcycle accidents:
As always, 27-2 stepped up to support the families of our lost brothers and will continue to. For those fellow combat veterans reading this, please reach out if you’re interested in becoming part of our team.
